Moroz Family Summer 2022

  Tuesday, July 26 Up early and packing suitcases as I had to take some things for KRISTA because she was flying on Wednesday night with only a carry-on. Cleaned the house absolutely and spit spot shape and all the bags loaded up for 10 AM.  At the dentist for 90 minutes. Picked up a few things at the drugstore, grab some grub from Tim Hortons and out of the city by noon. Lots of clouds and a bit cooler so that was nice. More traffic on the highway than you would expect.  Got behind five green bins and a giant caterpillar with slow moving vehicles in between trying to get to three hills. Also met numerous semi trucks carrying huge buildings and very very wide loads. Tuesday must be giant vehicle moving day. Canola in full bloom smelling beautiful all the way to Highway nine. Clouds parted and there was lots of blue sky and scenery to keep me company headed to Saskatchewan. Was able to play my SiriusXM station through my phone into my car so had lots of great music to keep...

  Monday, July 25 What have loved to sleep in at least once but different beds and different pillows doesn’t match make for a good sleeping arrangements. Up early and busy in the house. Cut the grass and did a lot of yardwork and housework. Spent a couple hours paying bills and credit cards. Did a few loads of laundry and then out the door to run some errands. Picked up some dry cleaning, got the Trans Am tuned up at my friends garage for a couple hours and then did a Costco run and spent a couple hundred dollars on some sale items that we will use over the rest of the summer. Home to start doing some packing and more house work. Krista  had to run some errands and visit her dad so Jacob and Dad had a barbecued burger and pierogies. We watched a movie and did some more packing and got to bed early for a very busy day on Tuesday. 

  Sunday, July 24 Woke up much too early starving to death. KRISTA found a restaurant while I went and picked up the car at the hall and we split a beautiful plate of breakfast. We drove around looking for a couple of trails to do some hiking but eventually ended up at a hike next to the Prince of Wales Hotel call bears hump. It said it was only 1.2 km but it was very steep and took us an hour to get to this unbelievable view of Waterton, all the lakes and mountains could be seen for 100 km in every direction. The views were absolutely spectacular considering it was only a one hour hike.  We hiked down and went to the Prince of Wales Hotel to cool off and get a drink before heading north and east to the gift opening and surprise 50th birthday party for the groom.   Friday July 22nd Up at 6 but back to sleep for an hour. Downstairs in the Medicine Hat hotel for breakfast 8-830. Bike loaded and on the road for 9.  1 hour trip to Brooks for fuel. Another hour to Strathmore.  Parted company with my 2 biker buddies and headed south to run a few errands before landing at home at 1pm. HOME SWEET HOME AT LAST! 4132.4km door to door over 10 days. What a ride! 

  Saturday, July 23 A quick nap last night and we were out the door by 9 AM headed to Waterton lake Alberta for a wedding! Darren had to run a quick errand to St. Mary’s University to pick up his apparel to volunteer at the golf tournament in August.We stopped at Tim Hortons and Starbucks and off we went!  We headed south on Highway two and turned west and stopped in pincher Creek to pick up some keys to the hotel rooms for the band. We got into Waterton lake national Park and could not believe how busy it was. We saw a big brown bear going through the park gate and then once we got into the town site there were hundreds of people everywhere. We have to be extremely careful driving as tourists walk wherever they want whenever they want lol. We found our hotel but couldn’t check in til 3. Had a lovely lunch of salads and a sandwich and setup at the hall. Band showed up and we did sound check and then it poured for an hour and stopped right before the wedding.  The wedding ...

  Thursday July 21st Last night day in the USA. Screaming hot early in the day. Started the day with breakfast in the restaurant. Bacon, 1 egg over easy and a GIANT FLAPJACK 6 inches across and an inch thick. I couldn’t finish it! Bikes loaded, fuelled up and away we go 2 hours west to Havre Montana. We pulled in to McDonalds for lunch as one of our female riders has a craving. Lol. We’ve eaten fairly well on this trip and this was one of the first fast food stops we made.  McDouble $2 for the first one, $1 for the second one, $1 pop. Good old Merica- you can eat like crap for $4. A salad? $11. Yep.  Drive west to Walmart for half an hour so everyone can pick up some last minute supplies from the US for themselves and friends and headed to the border by 3. Needed to make it by 5 as that’s when it closes. We rolled in at 4. Could have been out in 10 minutes but a couple people needed to visit the border guard FOR 30 minutes!!   Wednesday July 20   Up and out the door by 8 AM. We filled up with you the night before so we were able to get on the I 94 and head west. We drove about an hour and then turned off on the enchanted highway south at exit 72.  Along the highway, welders and sculptors created giant scrap metal attractions of different animals and objects as a tourist destination. Flying geese, deer, fish, people, horses and a knight/dragon to complete the ride. Very creative!!  We stopped in a tiny town called Regent ND and filled up with fuel. There was a miscommunication on places to eat and ended up having a chilli dog from the back of the co-op store when there was a little restaurant inside the fuel station. Lol. All good.  Heathers bike Wouldn’t start. Had to boost it.   Back on the highway and headed west as the wind picked up again.  Headed to Williston to the Harley dealership for a battery test but no luck. We will wing it.
