 Sunday, July 24

Woke up much too early starving to death. KRISTA found a restaurant while I went and picked up the car at the hall and we split a beautiful plate of breakfast. We drove around looking for a couple of trails to do some hiking but eventually ended up at a hike next to the Prince of Wales Hotel call bears hump. It said it was only 1.2 km but it was very steep and took us an hour to get to this unbelievable view of Waterton, all the lakes and mountains could be seen for 100 km in every direction. The views were absolutely spectacular considering it was only a one hour hike.

We hiked down and went to the Prince of Wales Hotel to cool off and get a drink before heading north and east to the gift opening and surprise 50th birthday party for the groom.

We drove on many gravel roads passed cattle and crops and then down a steep hill into the river valley to a beautiful private campground filled with campers who were there for the wedding weekend

There was a giant pig roasting over a spit and every beverage you could think of cooling in buckets of ice.

We had a couple hours of visiting with some of the amazing guests from the wedding and then after the bride and groom arrived, we had a quick visit and headed east.

Darren missed a turn and we ended up going to far east all the way to standoff Alberta and north to Fort McLeod before getting on highway two to head back to Calgary.

We grabbed some Subway in Fort McLeod as it was already 2:30 PM and we were getting pretty hungry.

We had seen fuel prices incredibly low at 1:49.9 in Claresholm on the way down to the wedding so we pulled in and even though we had to lineup for a while, it was well worth it to fill up for $.30 cheaper than Calgary. We got home just before 5 PM and all of KRISTA‘s family arrived in three vehicles within 10 minutes and filled the house with family! We had a spectacular barbeque and visit for a few hours before finally getting some peace and quiet around 9 PM. A little bit of television and off to bed from a busy weekend and summer!
