Our last full day in the big apple. Quick breakfast, waiting forever for slowpokes to shower and out the door at 845 at last.
We were bound for the United Nations tour and had to decide whether to bus or train. Bus is straight west with one transfer but train is a lot of walking.
Onto the 43 then the 15 and boom! Welcome to the UN!
After getting tickets, we went on the tour with our guide Johnathon. We saw the chambers of the Security, Trustees and Economic/Social Council. There was a meeting being held live but it was virtual though there were a hundred diplomats in a media room listening to it while it was live streamed.
We took many photos and enjoyed the tours before catching a bus headed towards Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Dad had hoped to stop in the Ukrainian Village for lunch but due to a navigational error by a certain 21 year old, we blew through the village after the stop that dad wanted and ended up 20 blocks away. 😔
Pizza it is! $1.50 a slice? Done and done! Back to the subway with a couple transfers and out at Battery Park. Into the line for the ferry and over to see Liberty. The history inside was quite remarkable and we learned a ton. Over to Ellis island for a video and tour. Amazing history here also.
Back on the ferry to Battery Park and lunch at Chipotle. Off and running to the subway to get a bit more shopping done in Chinatown. Hopped another Subway to the theatre district to 54 Below.
Shwanky place! Here to support my dear high school friend Lorinda performing in Turn The Beat Around - a collection of fun summer celebration songs
